I am not surprised by this any more than any other person in control of their own health, using nature’s methods for wellness would be. GMOs are UNnatural. They were not meant for the body and certainly won’t fix the world’s food shortage if indeed there really is one considering how much food is wasted in this country every day due to food laws that really do nothing to protect the public they claim to protect. These laws merely appear to cause much food waste.
And now that it has been proven that GMO foods (if you can call them “food“) are causing MASSIVE health and organ damage in animals, will that now force the hand of Monsanto and the government as pertains to the labeling of these unnatural, unholy products in the USA marketplace?
I doubt it. Especially after reading how President Obama says it would cause too much fear with the public so he’s reluctant to allow the food to be labeled. Say what? I guess all of the protesting around the country hasn’t gotten through to the government – mostly because they don’t seem to care nor appear to be truly concerned since the protestors are, for the most part, following the new USA guidelines for protesting after all.
Consider that these GMOs have been readily fed to livestock (factory-farmed livestock) for years now. Consider that humans are consuming those very livestock and have been for years. Also consider that whatever our food eats, we are eating. All of toxins, chemicals, genetic modifications go UP the food chain.
As if the factory-farmed animals aren’t suffering enough contrary to what the factory farmers claim. Nothing about how these animals are raised is natural and in fact is all very contrary to the needs and nature of these animals. Then we have to add insult to injury in feeding them foods that are causing them MORE massive health and organ damage. The factory farm setting alone is already doing that, and now the very food they are fed is fueling the misery of their existence.
Another thing to consider is that man-made laws don’t fix these things. Man’s laws only make us aware of our transgressions but they have never made us improve. That’s because improving is a choice.
The laws of nature on the other hand give us back our health, our life when we follow and apply them. And when we allow the same for our animals, ALL domestic animals.
The improvement isn’t going to come through forcing more and more laws. The improvement will come from the choices and decisions we each make. However, there is a problem with deciding to not eat GMOs because they do not have to be labeled by law – unlike most natural health products I might add. Kickback must be THE word in Washington.
To quote naturopathic veterinarian, Dr. Patricia Jordan, “Also realize there are GE viruses in many of the vaccines as well.” Vaccines are a whole other ballgame, but add to the GMO foods and the GE viruses in vaccines (typically these same animals are subjected to these as well on a a regular basis along with all the hormones and antibiotics) and this is a recipe for disaster: for us as the consumers and obviously for the animals.
You can read more about this latest GMO fiasco here: http://www.naturalnews.com/033784_GMO_animal_feed.html
With all of the other toxins already killing us and the animals – vaccines, chemicals, pesticides, etc. – can we withstand much more? I’m thinking not, UNLESS we decide to change this and now, not later. However, the change, the improvement has to start with each one of us making a conscious decision about what we will DO about it. The time for passivity has ended.
It may come down to growing our own food again. More and more people are doing that. To not eat in restaurants because the majority of their meat products (if not all) come from factory farms. You can always opt for vegetarian or vegan, but again remember that foods sold in restaurants, unless otherwise stated also come from conventional farms using pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. Again we consume whatever is used on and in our foods.
The government, conventional, and factory farms all make claims that it is cost prohibitive to feed the world organically. But that is simply not true: Study: Organic farming outperforms conventional in yields, economic viability, conservation, and health
We can each of us each day make a decision to take back control of our health and that of our animals by following the naturopathic principles mandated in nature for our health…by taking back control of our choices. By doing just one more thing each day as a step in the right direction.
I don’t have the answers for everyone and for the world. But I can make the decisions that impact my own life and that of my family and pets by:
1. Choosing to eat organic or if that isn’t affordable invest in the labor of growing my own food
2. Choose grass-fed organic for myself and my carnivore pets
3. Use natural products for cleaning, personal use, etc.
4. Plant native indigenous plants instead of just anything that catches my fancy
5. Purchase clothing and products with consideration of where they were made, what chemicals were used, etc.
6. Compost: recycles yard material and then feeds it as well.
7. Honor nature by not using pesticides, herbicides, etc. and use natural alternatives if additional assistance is needed
8. Recycle
This list doesn’t stop there and in fact is rather endless at this point in history due to all we have as a species done wrong.
I know I need improvement in some of these areas too. But I have consciously made the decision and have been moving in the right direction per the above list for years, teaching it to others and always seeking how I can be part of the solution rather than contributing to the problem.
I suppose this blog post is more about what we can do in the right direction rather than focusing on all the damage that is already being done with the insanity of GMOs. I really think animals have suffered enough in the name of science and humanity, so it’s time for us to each do our part.
I have no control over what anyone else does, but I can be an example of what I’d like to see in this world. I can also control what choices I make.
If we do nothing however, then we won’t have any choices left to choose from.
